Media formulation: Medium formulation is an essential stage in the design of sucessful laboratory equipments,pilot- scale development and manufacturing processes.The constituents of a medium must satisfy the elemental requirements for cell biomass and metabolite production and there must be an adequate supply of energy for biosynthesis and cell maintenance.
Different sources for media formulation - carbon sources, molasses, malt extract, starch and dextrins, sulphite waste liquor, cellulose, whey, alkanes and alcohols, fats and oils, Nitrogenous sources, corn steep liquor, yeast extracts, peptones,water, minerals, vitamins and growth factors, precursors, inducers and elicitors, inhibitors,oxygen and antifoams.
